Park & Bond is the first-ever full-price shopping experience from Gilt Groupe. Gilt approached Hot Studio in the fall of 2010 to envision an experience that seamlessly blended editorial and retail to create a narrative that equaled the in-store high-end shopping experience found in luxury boutiques the world over.
I was brought in to the project during an internal round of design charettes that included freelancers and many design resources from our west cast office. Stepping into the project mid-stream and grasping the feeling and tone of what Gilt was trying to do was the biggest adjustment.
My approach centered around visualizing activity from other users on the site wherever possible. The intention was to give the user the same in-store shopping experience achieved by seeing others shop and interacting with other shoppers.
In the end, Gilt chose another direction to go with. However, I feel these explorations were very successful and have a lot of merit on their own.
