Fun With Grids and Colors and Icons

I was playing today with creating a brand texture out of icons. Currently this test uses a stock icon set called Whitespace and a palette I found on Adobe Kuler. I randomized the grid of icons using three sizes and randomized the colors within the palette. Next stop is to finish the unique icons and [...]

More Experiments With My Drawing Tool

taraProcessed

I spent some time last night tweaking my drawing toy. I still need to work on adding a script to isolate areas of the composition to add definition to. So that I can get areas with more abstract lines and areas with more detail. But in general I’m happy with where it’s going. The original:

Fun With the bitMapData Object

outPut1

I’m a little late to the party here (like 4 years!), but nonetheless I’ve set out to do some generative art work with photography, flash and painterly randomness. These are the first few outputs from the new program I’ve created. Still tweaking things, but you can see my first stab in motion below (it may [...]

Flash No More

flashnomore

Barbairan Group, Fantasy Interactive, Huge, Big Spaceship, R/GA and Organic all have non-flash sites. Why isn’t Flash the best platform for an interactive agency to present their work? If you look around these days it seems that all of the leading interactive agencies (from my perspective in NYC) are switching over their Flash sites to [...]

Believe the HYPE

Image-628x366

I think this is brilliant. Davis has really captured the frustration that I’ve felt with Flash as a platform for artistic and interactive experimentation: Flash has matured incredibly in the past decade, but it has done so in a way that has blocked non-developers from even getting started. The simple fact of the matter is [...]

Generative Toy

gentoy

I’ve been meaning to post this for a while. A while ago I created a flash drawing program to generate color fields for an experimental branding exercise I was doing for Roundarch. I explored using different palettes of color to distinguish between core pillars/competencies within Roundarch. You can read and see more here. Enjoy!

The SoFake Zoomer Never Gets Old

Screen-shot-2009-10-31-at-4.25.45-PM-628x311

Not being sarcastic. The Zoomable interface I first saw on sofake in 2003 has been tweaked for a scientific purpose, Cell Size and Scale. It’s korny to say, but it really puts things into perspective. Yuk yuk.

Viz Fun and More Viz Fun

As Mulvey put it earlier, “can I get 6 months off to learn PV3D already?”

Cool 3D Portfolio Visualization

Picture-11-570x339

Saw Matthias Dittrich’s portfolio on lookom and wanted to link it up. Nothing too crazy here but I really like it. The simplicity of the layout and the interactions – particularly the dragability of everything – kind of gives the site an environmental/tactile feel. Check it out:

We Choose the Moon

Picture-1-570x335

Check out this awesome new site about the Apollo 11 mission. It’s the reason why microsites should exist. There’s tons of little interactive elements to explore and learn about the Apollo 11 mission. The coolest part is that to commemorate the anniversary, the entire mission including the timing of events will be recreated online. I [...]
